"I am at this time on a visit to our cousins B.F. & Rachel Blair* who live less than one mile from our home, yet I have not been permitted to visit them in considerably over a year on account of my feeble health. My dear husband brought me over last evening, & the weather being warmer than we were really aware of, I became too much fatigued, consequently I spent a very restless night suffering with my spine & nervous debility, & am very feeble this morning, but being sufficiently able to arise from my bed I feel thankful. For having slept very little during the night I feared that I should not be able to help myself any today, & it is such a cross to me to be a burden to others, I have feared lest I should be, such on this occasion, but my relatives have such kind consideration for me that I have a great deal to be thankful for. May God in his infinite goodness & mercy be pleased to keep me close to him this day & preserve me from murmuring at my lot, & may I altho feeling much depressed in spirit be permitted to look to Him for help & strength in every needful time is my prayer."
